Maisie’s Journey

1D fan Super Maisie loves sparkles and always enjoyed gymnastics & dancing.

Maisie was diagnosed with a brain tumour in January and subsequently underwent a 7 hour operation to remove 80% of the tumour in February.

Following the surgery, Maisie’s little body gave up and she suffered a collapsed lung 6 hours later. She was subsequently placed into a medically induced coma. When she was woken over a week later Maisie was unable to move but she could communicate by moving her mouth and her parents lip reading.

She has since had a tracheostomy to help her breathing and is growing stronger every day. Her body seems to be regaining more movement than they ever thought. She is quite simply amazing!!

Maisie’s Diagnosis

Brain and spinal cord tumours are the most common form solid tumours found in children with around 400 being diagnosed each year in the UK. Find out more about Brain & Spinal Tumours
