Super Matilda's Story

Super Matilda's Story November 2020

One diagnosis of cancer in the family is more than enough, but two...? Matilda has been such an amazing support, as well as facing her own treatment.

Super Matilda’s Journey

Matilda was diagnosed with ALL on 14th June 2020, just days before her 11th birthday. She had no symptoms apart from a rash and some bruising which had appeared a few days prior to her visit to the hospital.

Matilda already knew what a family faces when one member receives a diagnosis of cancer. She had witnessed first-hand the appointments, tests, rounds of harsh treatment and resilience required to fight this cruel disease. She has been a pillar of support to her younger sister and parents whilst her mum has also been going through cancer treatment for the past 5 years.

Now Matilda also has to deal with her own chemo treatment over the coming months and years, but she continues to share her beautiful smile and her family knows that she will face the upcoming challenging months with determination.

The Supershoes

Matilda is a young lady with very particular ideas about the design of her Supershoes! She loves horses and riding, so Matilda wanted the shoes to feature a specific horse design, along with her favourite colours of pink, purple, blue and teal. And to match her sparkly character, Matilda was keen to have plenty of glitter on her Supershoes too, because this girl always needs glitter in her life! Against a galaxy-themed background, the request was for a single white rose to be included. What a fabulous design brief this was!
