There is a very special place in our hearts for Anne. Anne was a Super Volunteer at Supershoes HQ for many years, and brought with her a special and unique skillset. As a retired headteacher, she had a great head for organisation of course, but it was her compassion and empathy that stood out above everything and permeated all she gave to us in time and talent. As well as working in our HQ office, Anne visited many branches of the WI, spreading the word about Supershoes, and in the process, raising valuable funds for us. But she didn’t stop there. She organised her own fundraising activities too, and even when she moved away to Kent, she continued to champion our cause, speaking at events and talking to anyone she met about Supershoes and raising the profile of childhood cancer.
It was with the deepest sadness that we learnt that Anne herself had succumbed to cancer. She stayed strong to the end and we were so touched that even at her funeral, her family still thought about Supershoes, asking for donations in Anne’s memory.
Anne was a good friend to all of us at Supershoes. We will always remember with affection her warmth, her sense of humour and her dedication to the cause. Just look at all the pairs of Supershoes that she has personally raised funds for, helping so many Super brave young people!
Thank you and sleep easy, beautiful Anne. We miss you.
