Taking it to the limit

A talk from CEO Sarah White at a Freemason’s High Lodge meeting, was the inspiration behind the idea to raise money for Supershoes through an endurance run. Amos Wood who heard Sarah speak, was already planning an endurance race alongside a team of fellow fitness buddy’s from [Encore Fitness] (https://www.facebook.com/MattEncoreFitnesshttps://www.facebook.com/MattEncoreFitness”) so after Amos suggested Supershoes, the challenge was set! The 4x4x48 endurance run…a run of 4 miles every 4 hours, for 48 hours. Simple, no?

Well, no of course it wasn’t! The “Not so Dad Bods” team of 8 started their run on a Friday at 6pm, finishing after run 12 at 2pm on the Sunday.

Sarah visited the guys on the Sunday morning, at 8am to cheer them on, and described them as “almost broken”. Their efforts were not helped by the absolutely dreadful weather: torrential and persistent rain, which left them all completely soaked, trainers and all. They were camping in one of the team members’ garden too, so sleep was minimal to nothing and not particularly dry either. They told Sarah there had been some “dark times” for them all during the challenge, but the camaraderie kept them all going as a team.

They ran day and night, through pain and sleep deprivation, through rain, cold and discomfort, all to raise money to help very poorly children and youngsters with the gift of Supershoes, and we couldn’t be more grateful or proud of their stamina. They have to date raised well over £6,000, which is just incredible!

“Thank you” doesn’t quite cover this huge effort, guys! What an achievement!
